In the fifth installment of the ongoing series of exhibitions focused on printmaking in the Arab world (Arab Print V), Meem Gallery will hold an exhibition of printmaking by the late Palestinian artist and writer, Kamal Boullata. The works on display comprise of silkscreens by the artist, dated from between 1983 and 2018, from his early silkscreens created in Washington DC in the early 1980's, to his last work, Qasida, produced in late 2018.
On Saturday 29 February there will be an afternoon panel discussion with Sultan Sooud Al-Qassemi, Suheyla Takesh and a visiting academic, discussing Boullata's place within Arab abstraction; followed by a showing of the 1985 film, Stranger at Home, where Kamal Boullata and the film's writer/director, Rudolf Van den Berg, document Boullata's return to his exiled home, Palestine.
Meem Gallery invites guests for an evening combining both the vernissage and book launch on 17 February, from 7pm to 9pm at Meem Gallery.
