Graduating with a BA in Visual Communication from the American University of Dubai in 2011, Sara Al Haddad received her MFA in Sculpture from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in 2016, having been awarded the prestigious Fulbright Foreign Exchange Scholarship. In 2014, the artist was awarded a three-month residency with A.i.R Dubai, resulting in an open studio exhibition that ran in parallel with SIKKA Art Fair, and a commissioned, site-specific work for Art Dubai projects. Solo exhibitions include, I Know, I Knew, in the Gallery of Light in 2013, after completing a two months residency at Dubai Community Theatre & Arts Centre (DUCTAC); and Bursting at the Seams in the Pavilion, Downtown Dubai, in 2012. Al Haddad’s recent group exhibitions include: Rock, Paper, Scissors: Positions In Play in the UAE Pavilion at the prestigious 2017 Venice Biennale; Bayn: the In-Between, Warehouse421, Abu Dhabi (2017); ACADEMY 2016, Connersmith, Washington D.C. (2016); Ramadanization, Gallery of Light, Dubai (2016) and Not Really Here, Platform Gallery, Baltimore (2016).
